Exclusive Online Interview: Jess Wright
by Claire Muffet-Reece
Want to read more from our favourite ex-TOWIE star on how she manages to stay in such amazing shape and what products she uses to keep a healthy natural glow all year round? Well, you’re in the right place…
What was it that finally ‘clicked’ when it came to you getting – and staying – in shape?
“I realised that it’s all a lifestyle change and it isn’t just an added hobby. I really put my mind to it and I educated myself about how, if you eat the right things, and if you train in the right way, then you can actually make a difference – and that’s what I did. It was honestly the best thing I ever did.”
So, prior to your Fi7ness by Jessica Wright workout, have you ever tried fitness regimes before?
“A couple of years ago I did have a personal trainer and that was brilliant, but I wasn’t in the right frame of mind mentally to stick with it. It’s about having a programme, having structure, having a routine and going as much as possible. You need to commit to around five times a week in my opinion – not just once or twice a week. Having said that everyone’s different, and everyone’s bodies react differently. I think rest days are also just as important as exercising as well. You need your body to be able to recuperate.”
How are you managing your psoriasis these days?
“I follow a plant-based diet and in particular a regime called My Goodness Recipes. The creator had skin problems like psoriasis, and she realised that your diet affects your skin. I went to one of her retreats for a bit of an education, and it really opened up my eyes. I think it’s important to educate yourself in these things if you’re serious about it, because eating processed foods is not the way forward. Whatever I eat my body reacts to, so I have to be careful with the foods I choose to cook and snack on.”
You take care of your skin on the inside – what about on the outside? Is surgery in your future?
“I massively need Botox right now – but I haven’t got any. Just never say never! I’ve been accused of having a nose job, which is ridiculous – that’s the one thing I’ve always liked about myself. I’ve got my dad’s nose, which I love! I’m certainly not going to be stuffing my face full of stuff for the rest of my life so I never age, as I think it’s nice to grow old gracefully. Having said that I may have a little nip here and there on my face one day if I need it, but I’m definitely not doing it now.”
Celebrity Secrets asks….
What’s your favourite food?
“Oh God, I LOVE food! If I’m being healthy it’s Dover sole. If I’m not it’s something like a good curry – I love an Indian! I also love mac and cheese.”
“Love Actually. Oh and Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman, too!”
“My sister Natalya. I’ve got so many amazing friends, but my sister is my absolute bestie.”
“At the moment I’m loving a tracksuit bottoms with a pair of heels.”
“Boxing – I love it!”
“I love Chanel Universal Bronzer, and also I’ve just discovered Tarte Concealer – that’s my new find and it’s brilliant.”
Favourite hair product?
“I love a bit of beach salt spray. I also use the Jen Atkin collection by Beauty Works tape-in hair extensions. They’re amazing!”
Favourite fake tan?
“Always Fake Bake.”
“Haha, nice try! There’s been a couple! The thing is I’ve had flings that haven’t been in the press…I’m very private about it all!”
